Last Wednesday, Beth Moseley (@MoseleyPhoto), Ninnie Lear (The Wingman Norwich), and I decided to do an evening Microadventure to the North-Norfolk coast. Microadventures, a brilliant concept invented by Alastair Humphreys, involves taking short trips to explore spots in your locale that you otherwise might ignore, or just doing something a bit different for an evening/night. I say invented, but really he just gave a name to something most teenagers do all the time, but that becomes more unusual as age and responsibilities kick in.
We left Norwich at 5.30pm and headed to Waxham, a beach on the Norfolk coast. Arriving at dusk on a deserted beach, it quickly became apparent we had a pro amongst us. Ninnie had brought everything except the kitchen sink, and proceeded to a chop wood, build a campfire, and cook us an incredible mushroom risotto, followed by bananas with chocolate, marshmallows, and whiskey, and hot chocolate. In the meantime Beth and I stood by and took photos of him hard at work, as well as of the stunning starry night sky above us.
It was a beautiful and enjoyable evening, and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking to bring a bit of adventure to their city lives. We’re already planning the next trip…
